You know how difficult it is to find the perfect pillow? You buy one that seems nice in the store, get it home and it’s too soft, too firm, smells funny . . . there’s always something.
I heard about buckwheat pillows, researched them awhile and found this one. It’s perfect just as it is for me, Peanut added the entire extra pound of buckwheat to his. When we first got them we wondered about the crunchy sound of the hulls, but you really don’t notice it when you’re sound asleep. It’s like a personal white noise machine that supports your head & neck perfectly.

Peanut used to get kidney stones like you’d never believe – several, all day every day. He was in the hospital three times I know of with stones as large as 7mm! The latest big one tortured him for more than a week before they finally decided to pull it out. Two procedures and two stents later they confirmed they were Calcium Oxalate stones but couldn’t really do anything more for him besides recommend dietary changes that hadn’t worked before. The urologist’s PA told us about Beelith, a combination of Magnesium & Vitamin B6.
He explained that the body sometimes naturally forms stones by combining Calcium and Oxalate from our food. When you throw in some Magnesium, it competes with the Calcium and wins! Calcium Oxalate is not water soluble, but Magnesium Oxalate is, so the stones don’t form and the Oxalate is flushed from the system.
Sure enough, after just a few days of taking the Beelith, Peanut’s stones were flushed out and didn’t come back. That was twelve years ago and except for a little stone every now and then, he hasn’t had problems with kidney stones since.
If you, or someone you know suffers with kidney stones, even if only occasionally, click the picture above to buy your own bottle of Magnesium & B6 tablets & let’s rid the world of kidney stones!
I learned to ride a motorcycle in April 2022, at the ripe old age of 51. Thanks to two great instructors at Harley Davidson of Salt Lake, a super patient Peanut, and these throttle assists, I am starting to really enjoy riding. If you’ve ridden much you know how tired your right hand can get having to grip and twist that throttle all the time. These little dohickeys allow you to push with the heel of your hand and relax your grip a bit. Absolute lifesavers in my opinion.
Buy one for you and a friend/partner or get some as a stocking stuffer for a fellow biker. Just click away on that picture & ride safe!
In late 2018 I went to the doctor about severe pain in my feet. I had tried shoe inserts to support my arches, but they just made my feet roll to the outer edge even worse than usual. I knew a lot of my problem was because of my obesity, but it was becoming more and more difficult to stand the pain of standing, let alone walking. How was I supposed to exercise when it sent debilitating pain shooting up my leg?
So, the doctor said what I had was Plantar Fasciitis, and really the only thing to do was to have surgery or wear expense shoe inserts. Instead I did my usual research and found these little gems. They’re basically a little compression sleeve for your foot that gently holds your arch up. I was intrigued by the claim that you could wear them with or without shoes as going barefoot had not been an option for some time.
When I first put them on it felt like my feet were getting a nice little hug massage. I left them on overnight and the next morning, the first step out of bed was much less painful than the day before. It didn’t take long before my feet were pain free and I could wear cute, unsupported sandals and run around bare-footed.
I recently recommended them to my Bestie and she said within a week her pain was gone as well and now she’s got her husband wearing them. They fit pretty much any sized foot and last quite a long time. I bought my first pair in January 2019, wore them all the time because they feel good, and finally had to replace them about 18 months later.
If you, or anyone you know suffers from arch or heel pain, especially if they’ve been diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis, I highly recommend these. They’re an inexpensive and effective to a fix that way too many people deal with on a daily basis.
Sockwell Women’s Moderate Graduated Compression Sock
Just over eight years ago I spent a week in the hospital after learning I have Congestive Heart Failure (CHF). It was a not totally unexpected diagnosis after so many years with Diabetes and chronic edema (swelling in my legs). There were going to be more medicines to take, a limit on fluids, and a low sodium diet. All of that I could handle, but the news I had the hardest time with was the news that I would have to wear compression socks, probably for the rest of my life.
The image that came to mind at the time was that of my Grandma Gillespie and her ugly old socks that struggled to cover her varicose veined, swollen cankles. I was only 44 at the time and dreaded the prospect of looking like an octogenarian when all the medical staff said, “But you’re so young!”
So all week, while sitting around the hospital, I thought about what I could do to avoid the dreaded sausage casings. Then I came across a picture of my niece K– running in a marathon, looking all snazzy in her running outfit, including cute compression socks. The lightbulb went on in my brain and I started looking for runners compression socks.
I found this brand, Sockwell, bought a pair to try and waited patiently for my package to arrive. That was the first of a couple dozen pairs of Sockwell socks I’ve purchased, including some for my Mom and brother, and they’re just now finally wearing out. These things were a lifesaver for me. They are easy enough for arthritic hands to put on, not too hot, even though they are made with wool, and have a bunch of cute styles to go with most any style or personality.
My heart has recovered, but I’ll always have heart failure and need to take care of my legs. I wear my Sockwells every day, all day, with few exceptions (they still don’t go well with bathing suits – lol)
